She is There
They come in each day
No coat, no breakfast.
Some smell of smoke, or even smoked herb.
But she is there.
She teaches passionately,
Attentively.
Each one has a different story, and she understands.
She is there.
When they are upset she notices.
When they are angry she notices.
When they are anxious she notices.
She is there.
She donates clothes, she donates toys, she donates food, she donates time.
She is there.
Each day she comes home,
Exhausted but smiling.
Ready to take it on again tomorrow.
She is always there.
