One Size Fits All
It was then.
It was when your charm faded.
It was when you showed your true colors.
It was when you proved to be like everyone else.
It was when you broke my heart.
It was then,
That I realized I loved you.
I loved each one of your flaws
And the way your eyes shined with malice.
I craved our highs and if it meant hitting rock bottom once in a while,
I would.
I would because despite all the madness,
Your eyes put my world upside down but also held it in place.
Held it in such a careful way.
In a way in such a child would hold his teddy bear at night,
But also drag it through the mud during the day.
I was not in love with the perfect you.
I was in love with the idea of you.
However, the real you wore me down every day.
I guess maybe I wanted you so bad that I tried to make our destinies fit.
Sadly, despite how hard you try sometimes
Some things are not meant to be, you are not one size fits all and neither am I.
I’ll find my way.

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Ever since I was 5 I started writing short stories to my grandparents. This was a way for me to express my little thoughts and not so exemplary vocab but it worked for me and made me happy. Now I’m writing as a 17 year old and I hope at least someone relates to this poem as I do.
