Walkoff
As I walk up to the plate,
Hearing my friends and family yell my name,
I pick up my bat
and step into the batters box,
as I stare at the pitcher,
the pitcher staring at me,
he throws,
a fastball zooms past me,
I hear it smack the catchers mitt.
Strike one.
The pitcher winds up and throws again.
Strike two.
With a 2-0 count,
I thought all hope was lost.
Winding up for the third pitch,
I knew it was the one.
As the ball inches closer,
I swing,
the ball rips past the shortstop,
the runner from third tags the plate,
Walkoff.
