The Beast Of Three
The sky was blacker than black, almost like ink
And the moon was a bright shining pie,
Swimming in the darkness
The stars were like sprinkles on top of an ice cream,
Never alone, but forever alone
The wind was howling like a lost dog in a cold winter's night
And the trees waved through the cold wind like confetti
The fog covered the streets like a blanket,
A blanket of lost dreams and hopes
The houses were empty, almost like the dead
And the street lamps were broken
Leaving nothing but dread
The gates creaked, sending shivers through the spine
There were no cars in sight
The only proof of life
Is the crows calling from above
The fog only moves when swirling victims
Never to be seen whole
There was once a thriving town
Before the thing came to power
The townsfolk tried to live side by side
But greed pushed them out
Hatred and hurt followed
Until the only thing left was despair
Even then people stayed
Before it tried to feed
All hours of the night screams filled the air
‘Til the only thing left was the stench of death
And the tingles the wailing wind leaves
Not one person would travel it alone
Nor would a village
But three boys didn’t listen
Refused to hear the stories for truth
So they set out to separate truth from myth
If only they knew the horrors
Of what would await
If they crossed into those town borders
If only they knew what would be their fate
14, 18, and 24
The three unluckiest ages
For the unluckies lives
The smallest was first to go
His wails and screams of fright
Left blisters on the others
The sound of the fog begining his feast
The wind started to howl louder
And the second one shook
He knew what would become of them now
But greed of unprotected riches drove him to his demise
The beast struck fast and with fury
Bathing the third with horror
It was only with pain
That the third left the houses
He tried to run down the street
Dodging shadows and creeps
Hairs standing so tall
That they could touch the sky
He almost made it
If he had not turned
To the sound of and ice cream truck
But filled with wails of misery than goodies
They bright lights flashed around the corner
Blinding the third
The wails of pain and hurt closer coming still
The third stood his ground
Knowing his time had come
And accepting it with dignity
But then it happened
The cold tendrils of the fog punctured his legs
And flipped him on the ground
Dragging him back
Over the broken asphalt
Scratching his skin
Leaving a trail of blood
The last thing he could see
He was dragged off into the night covered by fog
Until the beast got bored by playing
And decided on his dessert
The screams punctured the night carrying on to the city
Until all but after midnight
Did they stop
No one knows if they lived or not
Nor what the beast was
Fifty years later four bodies were exposed
Three bodies of boys,
And one mangled beyond identification
Whether or not this was it
No one knows
Now remember when a crow calls
And when the fog rolls in
Or when the full moon comes
Never leave the safety of the building you're in
Even though nowhere is safe
No walls will protect you
Nor weapons at all
They only thing you would have is prayer
Whenever you hear the strangled calls of three
Remember these words of thee
Never leave
Nor never fight
Just run and hide
Or the beast will get a new dessert
And it may not settle on one
