Tragedies Can Turn into Realizations
Repairing and building,
Comes with challenges and heartbreak.
The feeling of our hearts breaking.
Breaking into many pieces,
Can knock us down to our knees.
Some of us give up,
Then throw our hands in the air.
Sudden loss and heartbreak,
Molds, changes and teaches us
No control over others,
Only over ourselves.
People choose to throw their hands up,
Some choose to stand up,
And others choose to speak up.
Tape or glue,
There are many ways to repair what’s broken.
Violent thoughts,
Different from violent actions.
If we act violently against those who have harmed us or the ones we love,
We advertise the acts we need to stop.
Unity can bring prosperity,
Peaceful protests can bring changes,
And words over power actions.
Fight for ourselves and those no longer can,
For those who we’ve lost,
Speak in harmony,
Join in alliance,
Speak for peace,
And fight for what’s right.
Fighting is changing.
Good or bad?
Decision is up to you.

I love to write poetry because it's a way of having my voice heard. I write about many different things but what they all have in common is truth and expression. This piece was inspired by the thought of peace and how it could improve.
