The World We Are Caught Up In
I don’t understand the world we live in today.
Where we care more about the number of likes on a post we get
Than a child starving on the streets.
I don’t understand the world that we live in today.
Where on a perfect summer day, children sit on their phones
Instead of picking up their bike and experiencing adventure.
Think about this for a second.
If the society we are growing up in today is so caught up in the digital age,
Where adults care more about updating their profile about their accomplishments
Children sit in their basements on a perfect sunny day
And teenagers get caught up in a person getting more likes than them, making them less important.
Then what will life be like as we evolve?
Will we completely ignore each other?
Will we forget that life is about making new experiences and adventures?
The question I am asking you is,
Why can’t we go back to the old days?
Where children went outside and rode bikes
And didn’t come home until the sun went down.
Where teenagers didn’t worry about how many likes on a post they got
Or what they were missing out on, because their friend sent them a picture.
Where adults had normal conversations
And didn’t rely on keeping their Facebook posts up to date.
We ask ourselves
Why can’t we go back to the old days?
But the real question is,
Why can’t we bring the old days to us?
Together as a society, we need to make an effort to not forget about the world we are living in for a second and experience life.
Take a moment out of your day to go on an adventure, and shake the stress off of your shoulders.
Find a way to bring the old days back today.
If we truly want to go back to the olden days
We need to let the olden days to come back to us.

I was inspired to write this piece and share it with the world because I want to get the message across that kids need to be kids. So many children are caught up in this "social media" world and we need to realize that life is about adventure and experincing different situations.
