A Light So Blinding

Your light, it blinds me
More so than the dark that persists in me
Your words, they're so unsuspectingly hopeful
They ricochet off my heart, so utterly deceitful..

You dream of chasing the moon,
The cacophony of my thoughts won't let me sleep
You smile at the world despite your scars,
I despise even the compassionate stars.

I tell myself, I'm in too deep
Much too heartless, much too bleak
Lies and woes pay homage to me
If ever the dark were to fall in love,
It would find a companion in me.

You hold me back, lest I burn to ashes
And asphyxiation from the smoke kills the mercy in me
Lest I jump of a cliff
And my mundane dreams, they die along with me

So I thank you, the hopeful within me
The believer, the innocent with eyes that perceive
Only the child, the poet that resides in me
And isn't blind to the penumbra of glee
Of this heart and this soul that belongs to a misconstrued human being.

I felt that sometimes people are utterly misinterpreted. So oft they aren't even given a chance. But instead a lashing out , let the good in you take over.. the believer , the child. Let hope take the wheel.
