My Father
A father; a daughter’s first love,
My father?
My first heartbreak.
You said I’ll be around more.
Every other weekend became every six months;
Then never.
All the excuses why I can’t see you.
Where’s dad, mom
He’s just working a lot recently
We all know that’s not the truth.
A long break of silence between us…
Then, finally, a message from you.
All of the apologies roll in.
I try to give a second chance.
How stupid of me.
Saw each other all the time.
Then a fight,
The most brutal fight,
But with words…
After all the things a daughter should never have to go through.
He made the mistake,
By calling me a mistake.
But maybe he was the mistaken one,
A mistaken father
Of mine.

This is based on my relationship with my father. So I made my frustration into words.
