My Poet Boy

He wrote about my bookcase of a heart
How some never get to the end
How some just rip through the pages
How some put their signature on me
I thought he wanted to find out the ending…
But apparently,
It was just a map for him to follow
To shred through me
To draw in my margins
To break my spine
To skim through and leave me with the cliffhanger
My poet boy
Turned me from a novel
To a stanza
