Flames
there once was a house up on the hill
it was tall with an ever standing will
its paint gleamed bright
shingles aligned just right
all the neighbors envious of its perfect doors
the home even got compliments on the color of its floors
but that one summer night
the neighbors looked over in fright
smoke seeped from every crack
that lovely paint was now charred black
the roof was gone
the floors as well
the house up on the hill.
