City of Snakes
You wrap your venomous fangs around the hearts of those near you. You weaken and tear down everyone...even those who love and care for you. My oldest, dearest friend, what a manipulative snake you grew to be. Oh how you twisted my words and turned me into the foe. I became a dragon for you to slay. As if breaking me was a prize to be won. The robbery of my heart and it’s content. How dare you cut me off after I laid my life down time and time again. Why did I let you use me as a doormat? Wiping off every inch of grime you built up, I carried your burdens and dried your tears for years. What enjoyment do you take away proclaiming to me there will be no reconcile?
Upon the city that harbors demons like yourself, I find beauty. Upon the streets you still walk, I find grace. Beneath the filth and degrading memories you left, I no longer crave redemption . I thrive perked high above on the rooftops, while you slither without mercy along the scorching asphalt.
