The Outsiders Poem
Nothing gold can stay.
That’s what my friend would say.
Now he’s dead.
Why are we divided?
We all see the same sunset.
These questions killed my friend,
And haunt me when I go to bed.
So I will now ask of you,
Why, oh why, are we divided?

What inspired me to write this poem is that I read The Outsiders and concluded it was senseless for the characters to die because of an ongoing class war. I hope this will be a thought-provoking poem for other people who are reading the book, too.
