There is a Darkness in everything,
although you may not see it.
it is always there,
lurking behind every corner
Darkness takes control of all aspects of life,
leaving us with nothing but fear.

You may think I am full of light,
but you are wrong,
for I am the son of shadows.
I wait until the time is right,
when everything is covered with a blanket of black
I strike and catch my prey.

People say that without light there would be no darkness
I say that without darkness light cannot exist,
I am built up out of darkness,
everything in the world is tinted of darkness
you will disagree with me,
Telling me that I am crazy.
but admit it,
You know who you are deep down inside.

Darkness is what makes me live,
what makes me thrive.
I can not live without the Darkness,
for it is my whole being.
Fear of Darkness is peculiar,
yet it is so common.
So many people fear their inner selves,
wishing that they could be different.
But I say,
let the Darkness in you smother out the light!
To put it aside and let your true being flow out from your body,
Express your feelings, do not be afraid!
ACCEPT WHO YOU TRULY ARE!

The author's comments:

I get my inspiration from Edgar Allen Poe who inspired me to love and write poetry.

I hope that the main thing people will get out of my poem is that not everything is sunshine and rainbows, that they shouldn't be afraid to be themselves and do not care about the judgment of others.
