Liquid

The waters brew with relative ease
Ever so fluent the current blows steadily at peace
Evaporating with such ferocity it can't be beat
Raging on and on nowhere to go
Never a place for it to flow
Settling back down again it freezes to ice
Solid, unyielding, no heart within sight
Emotionally deterred
Locked away
Nothing left to give way
Edges cracking, slowly warmed
As it is before a storm
Bursting forth from its prison of ice
Once again, warm, flowing cycle of life

The author's comments:

In this poem I was using water as a metaphor to connect with a person going through different stages of emotion. At first emotions generally are stable but that stability can cease and become a very intense amount of rage or a deep sorrow. In addition, eventually they could become someone who barely or no longer feels emotions.
