I was born

I was born with a song in my heart
A song from the south
Which has no counter part
For this song does not come from my mouth
I was born to the tune of hunting and fishing
I was born to the melody of four wheeling and muddy shoes
I was born to southern twang swishing
Southern food tasting
And Sci-fi blues
I was born to the sounds in the woods
Instead of the harshness in Hollywood
Exploration and adventure encompass my childhood
But only three others in my neighborhood
I was born with nobody else
No brothers, no sisters
Two cousins who I could no longer see
She would never listen to my plea
I was born to the best mother
And a not so great father
I was born to three aunts and two uncles
One aunt missing, one aunt crazy
I was born to a family so small
They never made land fall
I was born with a song in my heart
Which would soon depart
I don’t know where he came from
I don’t know why he’s here
This monster Im facing had a great head start
He pushes and pulls my life force away
I shout and I scream but to his dismay,
I was born with a gut of steel
I was born with no purpose and not in a creel
My life’s true purpose may never reveal
But that’s alright because,
I was born
With a song in my heart.

This was an assignment for my creative writing class, we were suppose to write a poem about where we are from and after listening to a few of my class mates this is what I came up with for myself. I feel like it really shows alot about who I am.
