Back to the Past: Before the 414
With attractions like Granny’s House and the Haymarket Candy store,
newcomers lack the ability to adore.
But what did they expect? A 300 foot copper woman to welcome at the shore?
No no, Milwaukee is city of family, friends, and culture—nothing more.
Take a stroll past the brewery, maybe a ride in a street car.
Or just sit down and have a jug! We are who we are.
Milwaukee, a city of business, sports, and progress.
An unknown gem to tourists, often seen as much less.
Our Bucks and Brewers, about as intimidating as a princess.
But the Packers! Even they won’t share our 414 address.
The city is not dull, the nightlife lives to impress.
We must thank our beer for that, it’s what we’re known for I guess.
From the past of Milwaukee in 1900, to the present of 2017,
Milwaukee is a city of its roots,
excessive cheese use and proud alcohol abuse.
Milwaukee will always feel the same to me.
