Koolaid
The memories you try to repress
Slowly crawl back,
Clawing at your shins
Trying to climb their way inside,
It’s their home.
A bottle
The only thing that fights them off,
In a bathroom trashcan next to
pills
And a used towel pillow.
Bad habits,
Supported by friends,
Things you told yourself
You’d never do.
But it’s just for fun,
Just for a good time,
So it’s alright.
You drank the Koolaid
Because sometimes it’s easier
To trip yourself just to shorten
The fall.
