Call Me Coach

I see the players running, the sophomores, juniors, and seniors
The coach assertively encouraging them up and down the court
The sophomores discovering they can make a difference
The juniors understanding the importance of each role
The seniors grasping this would be their final season
Each teammate realizing that because of my coach, they can come together as a team
I say a prayer of thanks for my coach, for her dedication to overcome each battle
My gratitude encompasses from the stars in the sky to the roots where each player began her career
Each struggle we conquer together will evoke me of my appreciation.
