Social Justice Poem
I wanna talk about America
I wanna talk about the image broken tremendously
Yet still appearing as the home of the free
Covering up the cracks with lies of glue, not even guerilla
Glue could hold us together as if we never
Struggled with the imperfections of racial inequity
I wanna talk about the repetitive cycle of the man with the badge Abusing its power with no explanation. Blood on the concrete with a pulse gone flat. He was supposedly a threat The only threat was the pigment of his skin
I wanna talk about society and the stereotypes of blacks
How we’re babymamas and thugs and don’t have dads
Because they’re incarcerated or dead from the same brittle path
The path of destruction from a parent to a child.
I wanna talk about society lacking of knowledge how it became ok to say “you're pretty for a black girl but don't take offense.” When I hear that it seems like bugs are crawling on my skin and eating away at my confidence. I should have said “you’re cute for a white guy but don’t take offense”
Feeling trapped and confused on how to maintain a healthy mindset when
We’re trapped in a mind full of lies and toxicity
Society deceives and manipulates my brothers and sisters to believe we are the stumbling block to prosperity, as if america was ever great.
I wanna talk about the struggle I face on a daily
I wanna talk about how I can’t go into a store without being stared down like i'm stealing or expecting me to pay in stamps
40.2 percent of white people are on stamps more than any other race, but America portray that african americans needs assistance the most
I wanna talk about my brothers The same brothers that fought in world war 2 and can't get their reparations The lives thats been spared to protect this nation my brothers deserve The same recognition
I wanna talk about justice and fairness something i fear we will never see because of white supremacy. America covering ears and shutting eyes to it. Im awoke no need to settle for a dream and fake taste victory. The truth hidden under centuries of lies, and each generation settling for less.
I wanna talk about this crooked nation how braces can’t even do justice to this fraudulent domination
I wanna talk about change how it’s a dream come true but it will never be reality cause were living in a fantasy
