Innocence
A fresh apple plucked from it’s tree
The sweet, yet empty taste
Flying throughout my mouth
That can be easily overtaken by tastes so putrid
The press of a new button
Pull of a new lever
Without knowing the outcome
A perfect sphere, without a dent
My child’s first steps
Becoming engulfed in whatever passions come their way
Playing in the backyard
Without a care in the world
The freshly mowed grass at their soccer games
Not knowing which goal is theirs
Or the unknown smell
That is far in the distance
Hearing their best description
Of their abstract imagination
Beautifully depicting the world
That they know so little about
“Come out and play
There is nothing to worry about
We don’t know the pain around the world
And we don’t need to”
