Come out and go, barefoot and free,
and push against the mountains.
With strides the size of waves,
my toes brush the grass, and my heels sink into the dirt.
The deformities of the earth mold under my feet.

I run in the canyon
amongst rock and puddles of the creek.
I run on the vast beach
while sinking in the sand and stinging from the salt.
I run with the red dirt
when the praises are sung and the weather is hot.
I run with towering buildings,
blinded by bright lights and dirty streets.
I run with peaks above me,
with chilled toes and green surroundings.

So fulfilled, I am at once myself.
A bridge to feel and understand the world;
I am able to run, barefoot and free.

The author's comments:

So much of my life I spend ibarefoot. It allows me to roam freely and experience the world, while reminding me to stay intentional in learning and making relationships. Each place I go, and I have been lucky enough to travel a lot of places, I try to go barefoot - this poem is an entity of those moments.

Learn in everything, live in the moment, and go barefoot. You won't regret it.
