The Trees know
The Trees go by as we go forward
The Trees grow taller as we grow older
The asphalt continues on
as the trees grow thicker
The feeling of being enclosed
by a shelter of trees
The Trees that give
The Trees that see
The Trees know all
They've seen the rise and falls of empires
The old wise Oak
The slender narrow Aspen
The thick Pine
The forever knowing Trees
They see births of children
They see the death of family
Their brothers being chopped down
for shelter
or for warmth
They see their brothers die
as a conflagration appears
Because of the humans that
put the asphalt road through there home
Their alcove
Their domain
The Trees know
