McDonald's
Red lights reflect on my tired, pastel face.
White lights follow closely in my rear.
The stop-and-go,
Never-ending,
Crazy-making
My brain goes dizzy,
knocking back
And forth in my head.
My ears hide from the booming music;
My hands do nothing to adjust the volume.
I zoom forward with a burst of enlightening hope
to jerk back to the dolor of stillness.
Sitting, waiting, wasting time,
I gaze toward the Golden Arches with lust.
Should I venture over?
Well--
I inch forward no more than a foot;
I am already late.
