Where I'm From

I am from mantles
from Bub’s Pubs and Cranachan
I am from the sun-sets on balconies
(relaxing like a good nap)
I am from the Magnolia
the flower of the City
Whose petals smell sweet as Summer’s Eve.

I’m from the Tye-Dye Tuesday’s and green eyes
from SS Franz and JoAnn.
I’m from the humor and careless-ness
from “Don’t put that in your mouth”
and “Say your prayers before bedtime.”
I’m from the Body of Christ
and Amen.

I’m from Dublin Ireland
from Salmon and Gam’s roast beef.
From the game of capture the flag that has brought about so
many arguments and is still talked about at every family event
from the second wife of Poppy.

In the drawer of mom’s closet
with smiles and hugs in an album book.
I am from the no-worries and all smiles family
whom without I would not be who I am today.
