Hatred
Hate
“I hate you,” she’d spit in his face,
But he didn’t care.
Still, she repeated it
Over
And
Over.
“I hate you,” she’d mutter
As her mom left a room,
Leaving her with him.
Oblivious,
As always.
She’d say it every night,
Every
Single
Night.
“I hate you”.
She blamed everybody,
But mostly she
Blamed
Herself.
“I hate you,” she’d whisper to her reflection.
“You’re weak.
You’re useless.
It’s all
Your
Fault.”
She was ashamed,
For cowering like a dog;
Rolling over in surrender.
For letting herself be trampled over,
And stepped on
Like dirt.
Like she was worth nothing…
Except,
She was.
She
Mattered.
