The Black Cloaked Wizard
I walk up the stone stairs
and sit on the top step,
hoping to see the elusive
Merlin.
A moment passes by and something catches my eye,
a small black figure
lurks towards me.
I turn to see a black nose,
beautiful green eyes
that resemble algae growing on the top of water,
fur as black as night,
And perfect white socks
Merlin.
I stand up and whisper his name.
To my surprise, he trots towards me
and rubs my hand,
his white socks have dirt and wood in them.
He starts to circle me as I pet him,
then it stops.
And Merlin walks up the stairs,
away from me.
I look away
and look back.
He’s gone,
like some kind of wizard,
he faded away
and left no trace
like he was never even there.
I felt my glass of satisfaction felt half full
but also half empty.
