The Counter-Clock tocks and ticks

A rose blossomed, but soon withered

For not a single drop of water was bestowed upon it.

The three footed man stood on his twos

Then collapsed on all fours, laid motionless.

Buildings fell and glass shattered. Only rubbles remained.

The hour hand strikes twenty-four.

It all returns to nothing.

The Counter-Clock tocks and ticks.

The author's comments:

The idea of everything having it's own day of demise intrigues me. It all steamed from when I watched the first gameplay trailer of Nier:Automata. The opening line "Everything that lives is designed to end", the grey dead open world that is portrayed, and the shear beauty of it all really inspired me to write this piece. It felt like time itself was rewinding, back to how the world naturally was, and as such, I went with the theme of a counter clock.
