Walk until the London streets and change into cobblestone
The hustle and bustle of the city will quiet down,
almost to the point that all you can hear is the wind whistling.
It may be eerie, but keep walking deeper.

Walk until the smoke and fumes clear.
Cold wind will collide with your skin,
and fresh air will seep into your lungs.
The cold wind may cause a tingling, but keep walking deeper.

Walk until tarps begin to line the alleys.
The light will become dimmer,
but you will see a light up ahead.
The shadows may make you jump, but keep walking deeper

You are finally here.
Old books line shelves, and  script majestically sweeps across each cover.
People come to and fro , talking with customers and bartering with other items.
Everything here is a remnant of old ages,
brought back to life by the people of the present.

Like the title says, this poem is about a palimpsest of the old markets that still exist in the city, and how as you get closer to it you get farther away from the noise.
