Abandonment
The sound of laughter once filled the room.
But all of that has turned to gloom.
To gloomy days,
And even darker nights.
My eyes have never seemed to stray,
From the ring that has turned my finger blue
Because it was fake
But that was okay
Because what we had wasn’t.
Four years.
Four thousand tears.
How is it that you can just leave me here?
Abandonment.
Selfish abandonment.
Because you had a choice
To stay or to go.
You dabbled at the idea for nearly a day
Before you decided to leave me a stray.
Good thing I didn’t get in the way
Or have an effect
On the way your mind decided to curve.
Morphing into something I’ve never seen before.
Something was destroyed,
Inside of you,
Still physically you remain perfect.
But the tears in your eyes make me wonder.
Maybe it’s best for you to go
And maybe I’m the selfish one
For asking you to stay.
