Death is a Woman
She was tall
She was sad,
And as I looked at her and her
At me
Her curly hair bouncing
With
Wind that wasn’t there
Her mouth a line
She said
“May you come with me”
Her voice a soft, steady drip of gold
“You time is up,
And it’s
Time to go,
We may review if you wish”
“But life doesn’t hold
All of your journeys
And I know
You’re scared.”
She held my hand
Hers being cold
And
Colored coal-grey
“You can watch your
Loved ones,
From where you
are going”
She gripped me tight
Sending chills
Down my spine
But warmth up
My arm,
“We have a room
Where the channel tunes,
To the people you miss most.
Their grief,
And rebuilding,
Their hope.”
And death explained,
Her mouth a line,
We would move on
to the next life
together
