Like the Ocean
These days I feel more like an ocean than a person
Feelings come in waves
Instead of being steady like a current
The great barrier reef holds all my feelings, it protects them,
I feel like I’ve been floating,
Floating for days,
Floating for weeks.
When they left I felt a part of me melt off,
Much as the icebergs the polar bears live on.
Thoughts come through my head like an oil spill,
Polluting my thoughts and damaging even the most stable parts of me.
When I cry it’s like a tsunami,
Waves so large I fear they could cause a wreck,
But after the storm ends I find hope in the calm,
That things will be okay.
