The Image I Try to Be
Other people never seem to see it,
No matter how hard I try to show them,
But I have this mirror always in front of me,
And that is what I want the world to see,
Because my reflection always seems better than me,
She doesn’t follow my movements,
But encourages me to echo hers,
And I am beginning to think,
That after all, she, not I, is the image,
I am but the reflection.
And I don’t think I’m very good at echoing,
Because others can never see it.
Do they even see,
Me?
