Only Ticks of Time Will Tell
*Ticks of Time Define Presence*
Dear uncle,
You were here.
Here since my first days of life.
Balled into your warm arms like a mouse with cotton.
I was your guardian angel, bright as a bulb.
I was your key to life’s chambers, unlocking.
I absorbed your presence.
I was a sponge.
*You were here.*
Here from the first aspects of life.
The first climbs of of my hill.
My first blow of wishes and the good cake,
my first thumps on the floor,
my first shrieking laugh.
You were here.
I was getting old.
I loved you like a shark with fresh flesh.
You were my gold bar,
I thought you’d never tarnish.
But then, silence in the air.
All I could hear is the cool sways of air on the floor.
You disappeared like a firework in the sky.
You became a decomposing animal,
Your smell agitated me like as a buzzard dislikes your flavor.
I’m sorry, do you accept?
I accepted the fact of your showdown, so…
The showdown you absorbed and cherished.
The showdown of you flushing me down the toilet,
ending up in a dark pipe.
Don’t worry, I was plunged up by God’s will.
I now abandon your presence,
to absorb God’s water.
