As I got off the ATV, the season officially started.
Maybe this is how I now deal with this miserable lifestyle of being an adult
Man, I didn't know that it would be so difficult being an adult
I guess it wouldn't be this hard if I were an expert
They move slowly, and  quietly in the woods behind their fallen tree dens

The Alpha male squirrel snapped the others back into focus with a taste of
Pecans and corn
The smell of the food is a wonderful one to the squirrels.
Me being a sinner we lay down critical licks
And on this day, I match the weather
South Louisiana winters are no place for city slickers,
But there I was,Shining a little darkness on the midday cold

I led on the hunt in the forest hunting grounds
The gun I had just baptized in whiskey and tobacco the day prior to the season
I stood there in disbelief
Unable to take the temperature continuing to fall
They were given the signal by the alpha squirrel to move and climb from the main den
I'll fire away as soon as I get my opportunity , I promised myself
But first I had to switch to fire like all guns

Once The alpha male was a particular distance from my position,
I squeezed the trigger with a loud BANG!!
His body fell like a rock from a ledge
I then switch the gun back to safety, place my gun against a tree and walk
Toward the diseased squirrel. I look at the squirrel and trembled in regret,
“It is all over my little friend You are safe now” I said sadly, I then grabbed him and put him into my bag, and head home from a good day on “The Hunt”.
