The Fire
Smoke rose in the air
Orange tongues licked the walls
Consuming the place
I once called home
The smell lingers
I cough hard from the smoke
Holding tightly on
To all there is left.
Watching as my home burns
With tear soaked cheeks,
It's so hard to breath
As everything burns to ash.
It's over,
But in the corner of my eye
I can still see the flames,
I can still taste the smoke,
I can still feel the tears,
I can still remember it as if it were only yesterday
My thoughts repeat in my mind,
It was supposed to be a normal day.
Why did it have to happen to us?
I never thought it would happen...
Why?
...Why?
I could've saved something.
Instead, I lost everything
To the flames of the unknown
