Your smile a flash in a blinding darkness,

Your laugh a clap in a series of silences,

Your faintest touch enough of a beacon alone,

To guide a misguided soul on the right way home.

Feeling the ship lurch I turn starboard west,

Beating faster my heart glows in my chest,

Seeing hope for that this perilous quest,

Will finally be finished.

Sailing towards you now seasick and sore,

Lighting a lantern I could've swore,

Trying to get to you wasn't always a war,

I've ignored the rocks in an effort to climb ashore.

Thr light so bright I cannot see,

The decision to turn back now or risk getting drowned at sea,

The helm I grip and turn myself free,

Of the danger that could've broken my ship or my heart.

My ship spent eternities searching for you after realizing my mistake,

My last hope I put this message in parchment overboard to soothe my heartbreak,

I write this message to you in hope of forgiveness that your beauty and light,

Froze me in stillness that long ago night.

Fear of taking risks is only human, and heightened even more so when concerning relationships. However, that can be when it is the most important.
