Deafen
The thought of a clear mind’s a diamond jewel
Lost in the violent waves of my conscious pool
Fifty shades lighter and translucent would I want it
But lost at sea, did a dead man’s prayers ever make it?
I hear the crash and man does it deafen
No peace for the war within
A shame to even be in my own skin
Draggin’ my feet towards that promised end
Should I just give and let the waves do me in?
I hear the crash and man does it deafen
Land peeped from the horizon
God’s promise fulfilled in open ocean
I paddle ‘n’ paddle ‘n’ all I can see is that island
Closer and closer but a rumble and a wave soon engulfin’
I hear a crash and man does it deafen
Man does it deafen
Laying on the sand
And man the sunlight blindin’.
