The Remainders of my Parents Divorce
My father screamed for unanswered calls
With an empty stomach
And a full voice mail machine.
Like an unoccupied home
The walls close in on me.
Leaving only a table full of unsigned papers
And a nest full of baby birds
Nestled up in the hollow attic space.
With distorted limbs and undeveloped eyes,
They yearn to be let out.
Continuously clawing away
At the insides of their shells
That still remain in a motherless nest.
