Born again
My body is in pain.
I scream.
Not for help.
I scream;
Because my body is on fire.
I start to rot and decay.
While I start to lose my last piece of sanity,
I start to give in, and admit defeat.
I try to become friends with the pain.
The hard part about being friends with pain…
It’s more painful than ever.
You see, pain starts to play with you and trick you.
Pain makes you believe that pain is good.
Pain is the best thing to ever happen in your life.
Pain is bliss.
Then, my body remembers…
Pain is BAD.
I noticed my skin peeling.
It looked like ashes trying to hang onto my body.
My hair was stuck together in sticky, crusty, clumps.
It looked…
Stringy...
Dull…
Wornout.
I looked up to the sky and raised my hands.
Tears fell from my eyes as my body began to shake and tremble.
Bits of ashes started to fall off my skin.
Chunks of hair started to make their way to the ground.
I saw a white light.
Involuntarily, my hands reached for the light.
The power radiating off of it; was so powerful…
That it became overwhelming.
I finally touched the light.
And like a snake, it slithered.
It slithered right into my mouth, and started to spread throughout my entire body.
Warmth filled me,
Leaving me with unexplainable joy.
The ashes fully peeled, leaving me with glowing skin.
Long, luscious, locks of hair spilled over my shoulders.
The light gave me power unspeakable.
I felt new.
Born again;
Into a new me.
It felt like a new beginning.
Scratch that.
I felt like a new beginning.
