Warriors
Soldiers covered in blood and dirt
A bond of brothers
A bond earned never given
Been to hell and back
Collected dog tags and put them in a stack
Rewrote letters covered in blood and tears
Letters full of laughter, memories, smiles and cheers
From families thousands of miles away
A face full of scars, cuts
Eyes seeing nothing but hot brass and body bags
His mind thinking about surviving this black abyss
So that he can go back to see to hear
The beautiful laughter and smile of his girl Anabelle
A group of warriors sits still
Surrounded by black smoke and fire
with the stench of rotting flesh
Until one cracks a joke
Releasing them from the barb wire fence of hell
Surrounded by land mines full of suffering with pain
bringing them back home to the taste of good brew
With their one friend Joey who gets trashed after having a few
