Fifteen years
Everyday it’s the same.
The same classes.
The same rooms.
The same everything.
For fifteen years everyone has said that I needed to be good at school.
That I had to act a certain way to fit in.
For fifteen years I've been forced to be concerned with
Math
Science
English
When all I'm really concerned with is my art.
I'm not good at school. Everyone tells me I need to get A's and B's.
For fifteen years I've had to: learn the math my grandparents had learned is staring each of us in the face.
Fifteen years I've been told: I know you are smarter than this. I might be but not at this.
Fifteen years I've been told you must get good grades in this class or you will fail at life.
Fifteen years too many.
