Perfection

Societal
You call me
Hypocritical ,backstabbing, two-faced, and unloyal.
You even put a hat on my head and stitched B**** in capital letters
I’ll call you my best friend-
But talk to the next like you’re nothing
Tell me your secrets and I promise I won't keep them
Can’t you see, that’s not really me
I'm society’s image of who “they” want me to be.
So pretend I am teacher, pay attention! Class has begun.
Perfection?

Personal
You see, when I’m me it’s not good enough.
It’s real messed up when you’re forced to be someone you’re not,
Especially when you don’t realize you’re not even you anymore.
I guess that’s what life experiences are for.
Because later down the line you’ll see it,
And you’ll realize you should’ve been yourself a long time ago.
When are you are going to see things for how they are?
Perfection?

You see, perfection is an illusion created by one’s mind- the “they” we talked about
Created this to fulfill this idea that in order to conform to society
One must put all efforts into being perfect and nothing less.
But, you fail to realize nothing in life is perfect
Barbie dolls aren’t even perfect. The left heel is bigger than the right, one hand has a slightly longer pinky.
You see, perfection is non-existent because it’s just an opinion from the viewpoint of the “they”
Remember them?
Class is still in session.
Do you now see where I’m going with this?
When you live up to you own goals and you are truely you and you love who you are
Still should you not consider anything perfect in your eyes
Perfection?

Stop living up to other people’s standards
Stop acting how “they” act
Stop being who “they” are
And lift yourself high and be about something,
Stop trying to be someone you’re not
I never understood perfection nor will I ever. I never heard of it until my high school years.
They have their life to live and so do you
This world is meant for people to be themselves
Not meant for the same person to come in two,
But in this scenario I’m just a lonely 11th grade teacher, why listen to me?
Perfection.
