Cassie
Your bedroom walls were the blue crystal waters of the ocean
Somewhat like the blue text bubbles that I sent to you
And the same ones you never replied to
Sandy toes and pools of deep watery blue eyes
Share the secrets as well as the lies
You cut us cold and silent
Like a winter day where our toes are no longer sandy but engulfed in frostbite
And now that our hand and heads are divided
Upon where we stand
Communication feels like two frosty cans attached to a stripped string that lies forgotten
On the grounds of where we used to play
Unused and forgotten
Our friendship now, is like a greasy palm
Hanging and grasping onto the old metallic gray 80s exercise machine that sits dusty in your basement
Your whispers of “Jump up, hold on catch my ears
And every time right before I felt myself fall
I would look into those cold, crystal blue eyes
And I would see your raw, exposed emotion
Bright like sun and moon and stars and you
Later I would come to ask one question that wasn't nearly enough to save us
I guess my brain couldn't think fast enough to keep the tide from rolling away
Why are you blue?
And although your warm red lips never parted to answer the question, somehow it was rhetorical
And I knew
Because you were always supposed to have drifted away
you are the tide and I am the moon
