I Have Never Been So Afraid
I have never been so afraid,
To flaunt and parade,
Exclaim aloud of who I was,
And who I am proud to be.
I have never been so afraid,
To defend all of my friends,
And show that our peaceful struggle,
Is not just a mean to all ends.
I have never been so afraid,
Of common strangers around me,
To know whether they’ll shoot first
Or not, takes great difficulty.
I have never been so afraid,
For others I had never met,
Because I fear that many think
Our lives are good to pay debt.
I have never been so afraid,
Of those belonging to my family crest,
But I fear now most of all,
The pink triangle on my chest.

I have never been so afraid to say that I am a proud, genderfluid American, who lives in a wonderful lgbt+ family in the Midwest, and I have never been so afraid to stand up for myself.
