It's too late
What were we thinking as we entered the gate
the darkness of the night growing more near
even though it very late
we descended and disappeared
Graves seemed to glow when our light beams darted
among the trio, one camera and two lights
every grave was the remains of the departed
the fear within us began to ignite
Step by step we eased off the path
nothing could make us pause
when we heard a loud, cackling laugh
we still kept moving along
In the distance among the trees
was a fallen gravestone
how much more will we freeze?
when will we be home?
No more moonlight tonight
and fall leaves under my soles
I was walking more when I realized
my shivering body was taking a toll
Darkness wasn't allowing escape
I was to far from dawn
In front of me was a dark shape
Standing where it had spawned
I turned around in a flash
ready to tell my friends to run
nothing but two flashlights
I was left so stunned
I lost all feeling and senses
what happens from here on out
is paid with consequences
no one could hear me shout

This poem was written based on a graveyard my friends and I went to one time. I hope that certain added details would add supense and make it more enjoyable for the reader.
