Lullaby of Closed Eyes
As the sun rises from its peaceful slumber
Awaking all for a brand new day
The rays of gold shoot through the cracks of the blinds
Emitting lines of marigold flowers in the small dark room
The aroma of freshly picked roses swallows the room
A checker board sits in dust awaiting for a player
A tea set prepared anticipating a guest
The kettle rings it's signal for its ready
A lone girl sits staring into the window
Wishing to see Mother Nature's children
Her hair flows on the floor like the blossoms outside
Yet she never knew what the flowers looked like
She gets up, hastily and with ease
Traipse directly to the screaming child
Prepare herself a lovely cup of tea
Then sits back down without a single blink
Yet there was uneasiness in the trick
A daredevil never gets one off twice
She hits the edge of the checkerboard
Sending her tea sprawling to the floor
All she sees is the vision of the night.
Dreams haunted by unseen nightmares.
Her only home is her own mind
Stuck in the black hole of time.
People pity me, for I cannot bear witness
To the colorful world of the outside
Many don’t realize why I hid my sight
For I’m the one who plays the lullaby of closed eyes
Can you see what I see?
