At 3 AM
At 3 AM the world is different
The simple things turn complex
The world is hesitant
Somewhere between the night and dawn
Hanging on every word for a direction to turn
I feel many things at 3 AM
Before it was happiness and wanderlust
Now it is cold and emptiness
Black as the swirling night surrounding me
Softly I hear the whispers of your name
As an after-thought across the breeze
You used to say many things at 3 AM
You wrote me love letters in the stars
Sprinkled star dust across my mind
You said it was to bring me visions
Now I am left with a cloud in my reasoning
Blocking the truth
You used to promise me the world
And I believed that it was yours to give
I gave you my whole heart
Expecting you to keep it safe
You returned it shattered
With pieces missing
I miss these pieces most at 3 AM
At 3 AM the world is different
Filled with the pain you left me
Now I wait
Longing for your voice
Hanging on every word for a direction to turn
