The Bridge
It takes 2 to build a bridge.
Each must do their part to reach the middle.
At first it was easy, they were young with so much energy.
They did not know the pain that would later hold them back.
After a time it became harder to reach the middle,
but the faith and love that they had, made it possible
for one to build a little farther when the other could not reach.
But when one must build so far out, supplies and energy run short.
One can only reach so far befor the structure cannot hold the weight.
She tries to reach, but if she reaches any farther, she knows that she will fall.
He sits on the other side, refusing to see her effort and pain,
His side of the bridge nowhere close to the middle.
With vain hope, she builds farther out towards him, desperately trying to hold on.
She is not ready to let the bridge go, to walk back to her side and move on.
She knows she will fall, but she cannot give up.
If he does not build his half of the bridge,
to stabilize the structure and support the weight,
She will fall and he will lose her
Forever
