A soul belittled by most, loved by few
My shivered bones plead for heaven
Taking the guidance of an almighty presence
A witness protection program
From myself
All-American over thinker

An exquisite hymnal
In the ice storm
Where he yearned for me
Falling harder than any other I’ve ever known
Counterfeit crimson-stained snow

It was in retrospect where I found myself
People change
Perspectives change
A new appreciation for ice storms
For they don’t always occur outside
But in my heart, in my mind

He is my saving grace
Performing a lullaby on a harp
I wasn’t aware of such elegance
My heart knows to whom I belong
Who am I to question it?
