fi·del·i·ty /f??del?d?/ n. 1. faithfulness to a person, cause, or belief, demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support 2. the quality of being faithful to someone or something  . . . someone: love . . . something: religion / resembles loyalty, allegiance; deeper-seeded than loyalty, allegiance / true-heartedness and piety in endeavors  / brandishing a banner high, shining / fervor, zeal / a heart lingering, enduring, letting passion prevail / the truest love through glorious days, demanding days / writing letters, remaining near to people in far off places / lying in the sunset, waiting, until the last light leaves . . . waiting even through the ever-intensifying chill


The author's comments:

Fidelity is a word that has always intrigued me.  The word presents an obscure, difficult-to-define concept that every person interprets differently.  This poem is my expression of what the word means to me.
